Dewan Tun Fatimah, UMP Gambang - Msc. Programme in Mining with Mineral Technology, Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology UMP had successfully organized a “One-day Seminar on Sustainable and Responsible Mining” on 28th May 2022 in Dewan Tun Fatimah UMP Gambang. Dato’ Ir Ts. Dr. Badhrulhisham Bin Abdul Aziz, our Principal Consulting Fellow was invited as panel which he glad to share his experiences, knowledge, new ideas and best practices in mining and mineral industry. It was attended by around 40 participants from industry and also joined by several UMP staff and undergraduate students. Dato’ Ir Ts. Dr. Badhrulhisham Bin Abdul Aziz was involved in the Slot 1 - Responsible Mining : Balancing the economic, technical, environment and social factors. As panelist, the seminar can be main platform for him to stimulate a discussion towards mining professionals, mining owners, researchers, academics and related agencies to discuss local issues, current development and best practices in responsible mining.

Centre for Sustainability of Ecosystem and Earth Resources (Earth Centre) Universiti Malaysia Pahang - Development of Bed Biofilm Reactor

In 1930, Tausz and Donath presented the concept of using microorganisms to treat contaminated soil, giving rise to wastewater organics and inorganics biodegradation (Source: https://doi.org/10.1002/jctb.7131 ).

Today, Universiti Malaysia Pahang's Earth Centre has successfully designed and developed a bed biofilm reactor that can be used as a fixed or moving bed. Biofilm carriers are presented into the reactor to increase biomass retention, reduce the space area required, and colonize microbes without biomass recycling.

19th May 2022, Gambang – Center for Sustainability of Ecosystems & Earth Resources (Pusat ALAM) has celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri Year 2022 on 19 May 2022 equivalent to 17 Syawal 1443 Hijrah. The Hari Raya celebration is celebrated with the staff of this department not only to celebrate Hari Raya, but it can also strengthen the relationship between the staff of the Pusat ALAM, UMP's staff and industry partners. The festive Aidilfitri celebration was celebrated with various food was served and a photo session as a memento of the celebration. We would like to thank everyone who attended the celebration.
